Brian Clem—As Oregon as it gets.

Over the past fourteen years, I have visited many communities across our state and met with everyday Oregonians and experts in many fields, hearing the best ideas on how to best move our state forward.

I've listened and I've learned. Now, I'm going to keep doing my part to build a better future for Oregon. After touring Oregon and after talking with my friends and neighbors here in Salem, it's clear that our state needs bold leadership to solve our most difficult challenges...rebuilding the middle class and putting an end to the partisan divide that has gripped our Nation and State.

I've determined that the best place for me to address these challenges right now is in the State House, serving the people of Salem.

Last session I had the privilege of chairing the Agriculture and Land Use Committee, as well as serving as a member of the Business and Labor Committee. In this capacity, I pushed for honest and fair legislation that will benefit our District and the state of Oregon.

I believe in our Citizen Legislature and I will work to bring people together from diverse backgrounds to solve Oregon’s problems. I try to never forget where I came from or who I was elected to serve: working families, kids, seniors and small business people who don’t have lobbyists. I’m proud to be their voice.

Reducing Class Size – I was Chief Sponsor of legislation requiring mandatory class size discussions between school boards and teachers. The days of 35 students in a classroom must end.

Saving Oregon’s Natural Treasures – I led the fight to designate the Metolius River Basin the state’s first-ever Area of Critical Concern and protect it forever.

A Contract is a Contract – I was the only Democrat in the entire Legislature to vote against Senate Bill 822, the cut to the Public Employee Retirement System. I stood by the State’s contract with hard-working Oregonians and the courts agreed with me.

Ending Citizens United – I was Chief Sponsor of legislation to force Congress to finally say that corporations are not people and money is not speech.

Every Vote Counts – I was Chief Sponsor of legislation to move Oregon towards a national popular vote system for President.

Standing up for Reproductive Rights - I voted to allow pharmacists to prescribe birth control and require insurance companies to cover 1-year birth control prescriptions. I am 100% pro-choice and oppose any attempts to restrict access to abortion.

My job is to be your voice and I hope you'll keep telling me what's on your mind: if you have an idea to move our state forward, I want to hear it. Please e-mail our campaign and let us know your thoughts on how we can jumpstart Oregon's future.

It is truly an honor to serve the people of House District 21. I look forward to working with you over the coming months as we take our state in bold new directions and build a better Oregon for all of us.

For Oregon,
Brian
